Man Who Killed 2 Wisconsin Police Officers Identified
The two officers were shot and killed during a traffic stop in the small town of Cameron, Wisconsin, on Saturday.
BARRON COUNTY, WI — The Wisconsin Department of Justice has released the name of the man who shot and killed two police officers during a traffic stop Saturday afternoon in the town of Cameron.
Glenn Douglas Perry, 50, gunned down Hunter Scheel, 23, and Emily Breidenbach, 32.
Scheel, of the Cameron Police Department, had one year of law enforcement experience. Breidenbach, of the Chetek Police Department, had five years of experience.

At 3:38 p.m., Breidenbach and Scheel conducted a traffic stop in Cameron "based on a warrant and to check welfare of the driver" after officers were notified of his "concerning behavior," the DOJ said.
Gunfire was exchanged during the traffic stop, and two officers died at the scene. Perry was taken to a hospital, where he later died.

"There is no threat to the community," the Wisconsin DOJ said.
No other details on the shooting have been released.
"Hunter Timothy Scheel meant so much to so many people and left anyone he encountered with a laugh and a smile. Hunter was a living blessing who cared so deeply for those he loved," wrote Camryn Gosdeck, Hunter's girlfriend.
"Not only was he an officer for the Cameron Police Department, he also served for the Army National Guard and volunteered himself to serve in Afghanistan."
Officer Scheel, age 23, graduated from the Law Enforcement Academy in December of 2022. He had been with Cameron Police Department for approximately one year.

Breidenbach's father, Mike, told KSTP that "To know her was to love her."
A Facebook post from last fall showed Breidenbach visiting Chetek-Weyerhaeuser Area School District with "Officer Grizzley."
Breidenbach started her law enforcement career with Stoughton Police Department in Dane County and served there for nine months before she joined Chetek Police Department.
Gov. Tony Evers said he will order all United States and Wisconsin flags to half-staff across the state in honor of Breidenbach and Scheel once funeral arrangements are announced.
"Kathy and I join the people of Wisconsin in offering our sincerest condolences to the loved ones, friends, and colleagues of Emily Breidenbach of the Chetek Police Department and Hunter Scheel of the Cameron Police Department, who were killed in the line of duty over the weekend," Evers said.
"We continue to keep these officers and their families in our hearts and prayers."
The Wisconsin Division of Criminal Investigation is leading this investigation. When complete, the agency will turn over its findings to the Barron County District Attorney.
Cameron — a town of about 1,900 — is about a two-hour drive from Minneapolis.
