Check Your Freezer: Recalled Ice Cream Sold In WI May Contain Metal Fragments

Straus Family Creamery is recalling some of its organic ice cream due to possible metal fragments in the product after the potentially tainted pints and quarts were distributed in 17 states, including Wisconsin, according to a company announcement.

The recalled lots hit shelves May 4 and were distributed to retailers in Arizona, California, Colorado, Connecticut, Florida, Georgia, Iowa, Illinois, Indiana, Maryland, New Jersey, Oregon, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Texas, Washington and Wisconsin.

No injuries had been reported as of late last week, according to the Northern California company’s announcement about the voluntary recall, which was published Friday by the U.S. Food & Drug Administration.

The recall includes the following flavors, sizes and best-by dates of Straus Family Creamery Organic Super Premium Ice Cream, as listed by the company:

Consumers who have purchased the products are urged to discard them, according to the company.
