The FBI has offered a reward of up to $15,000 for information in the case, which is on top of the Manitowoc County Crime Stoppers reward of $1,000.
Since Elijah’s disappearance, the boy's mother — and the man she allegedly abandoned him to — were formally charged in Manitowoc County with child neglect.
Katrina Baur, 31, of Wisconsin Dells faces a felony count of party-to-a-crime child neglect and two misdemeanor counts of resisting or obstructing an officer. Jesse Vang, 39, of Two Rivers, faces one felony count of party-to-a-crime child neglect, the Associated Press reported.
In February, Elijah's mother left him to stay with Vang for disciplinary purposes, according to Manitowoc County District Attorney Jacalyn LaBre.
She left Elijah with Vang on Feb. 12 because she wanted him to teach her son “to be a man,” and planned to pick him up on Feb. 23, according to authorities.
Vang told police that on Feb. 19, he took a three-hour nap and when he awoke, Elijah had vanished. Vang was in a relationship with Bauer, he told authorities.
