Mom Of Missing 3-Year-Old WI Boy Jailed

Two people, including Elijah Vue's mother, have been jailed while the child is still missing.

MANITOWOC COUNTY, WI — The mother of missing 3-year-old boy Elijah Vue, and another man, made their initial court appearances Friday in Manitowoc County.

Police recommend the mother, Katrina Baur, be charged with being party to the crime of child neglect. Meanwhile, Jesse Vang may be charged with child neglect, FOX 11 reported.

District attorney Jacalyn LaBre claimed Baur — who lives in Wisconsin Dells — left her child with Vang in Two Rivers for a week "for disciplinary reasons." The prosecutor also argued that Baur gave false information to police about her whereabouts.

Meanwhile, Two Rivers police said they and partner agencies are exploring all possibilities to locate Elijah, who hasn't been seen since Tuesday morning.

"You may have seen officers searching areas such as local rivers and landfills, and that is correct," the department said. "We will leave no stone unturned. You will continue to see similar large-scale searches as we receive tips and continue our search for Elijah."

On Tuesday morning, Elija's "adult caretaker" called the Manitowoc County dispatch stating that the boy was last seen around 8 a.m. on the 3900 block of Mishicot Road in Two Rivers, police said. An Amber Alert for him went out Tuesday night.

Elijah is described as:

  • Of Hmong and White ethnicity
  • Has dark blonde hair and brown eyes
  • Last seen wearing gray pants, a long sleeve dark shirt, and red and green dinosaur shoes
  • Possibly carrying a red and white plaid blanket
  • Elijah is approximately 3 feet in height
  • Has a birthmark on his left knee

The Two Rivers Police Department is asking all residents to search any outbuildings, vehicles, or any other concealed areas they may have on their property. Residents with surveillance cameras or Ring doorbells are urged to check them for images of Elijah.
