Mount Horeb Middle School: Active Shooter 'Neutralized'

Mount Horeb Area School District went into "full lockdown" following an "active shooter," school officials said Wednesday.

MOUNT HOREB, WI — Mount Horeb Middle School and the rest of the school district went into a "full lockdown" following the presence of an "active shooter" Wednesday morning, according to district officials.

"The threat has been neutralized outside of the building," the district added.

School officials are asking parents not to come onto campus. The district said it will release pickup instructions "as soon as possible."

"Community members, there has been an active shooter at our middle school this morning," the Mount Horeb Area School District said in a statement at about 11:30 a.m.

"The individual did not breach entryway. Police department is helping to scope out our building to ensure the safety of our students and staff."

At 11:47 p.m., the district said on its Facebook page that: "Law-enforcement is circulating throughout the middle school to confirm the safety of all students. The threat has been neutralized outside of the building."
