Person Shot By Detective During Attempted Arrest In Fredonia: Police
Police were serving a felony search warrant for an investigation of internet crimes against children before the shooting, authorities said.
FREDONIA, WI — A male was shot by a detective while police attempted to arrest him Wednesday in Fredonia, according to authorities.
The incident occurred around 7:30 a.m. when law enforcement tried to serve a felony search warrant at a residence as part of an investigation of internet crimes against children, the Ozaukee County Sheriff’s Office said in a news release.
A struggle ensued during the arrest and the suspect armed himself with an “edged weapon” and was shot, according to police. The male was in serious condition and was taken to a hospital, police said, adding a county detective was hurt and brought to a hospital with minor injuries.

The county detective who fired his weapon was put on administrative leave in accordance with policy and procedure, according to police, who said the investigation was turned over to the Wisconsin Department of Criminal Investigation.
