Trump Committee Should Face Felony Charges, WI Ethics Commission Says
Former President Donald Trump's Save America PAC violated state campaign finance law, according to the bipartisan group of regulators.

MADISON, WI — Former President Donald Trump's Save America PAC should face felony charges of violating state campaign finance laws, according to the Wisconsin Ethics Commission.
In their referral for charges announced Friday, the bipartisan group of regulators claimed Save America PAC and Republican state Rep. Janel Brandtjen schemed to illegally evade campaign finance limits, WisPolitics reported.
The alleged scheme was part of an effort to give extra money to Adam Steen, the Trump-backed 2022 primary challenge of state Speaker Robin Vos, according to the Washington Post.

Under state law, individuals and most political groups can give up to $1,000 each to Wisconsin Assembly candidates. But Steen's campaign worked with county-level Republicans to evade campaign finance laws by having donors give money to one of the county parties, which would then give it to Steen’s campaign, the state ethics investigators said.
The Wisconsin Ethics Commission is made up of three Republicans and three Democrats. District attorneys can file charges within 60 days before the commission can refer prosecution to Wisconsin Attorney General Josh Kaul, a Democrat.
