Woman Gets Out Of Moving Police Vehicle On Highway, Dies

The two sheriff's deputies who were involved in the incident are on administrative leave, authorities said.

FOX CROSSING, WI — A woman has died after she got out of a moving police vehicle Monday, authorities said.

The incident occurred just after 5:30 p.m., when deputies from the Outagamie County Sheriff’s Office were transporting the 43-year-old from Appleton, the sheriff's office said in a news release. The woman exited the vehicle on southbound Highway 441 near Racine Street in Fox Crossing, and was severely injured, according to police, who said she was taken to a local hospital and later died.

“We would like to extend our deepest sympathies to the family and friends of the deceased,” the news release said.

The Winnebago County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the incident, and the two Outagamie County deputies who were involved are on administrative leave, according to authorities.
