The recent attack on the Asian community in Atlanta is painful and heartbreaking. Our thoughts go out to the innocent victims, their families, and the entire Atlanta community. Hate crimes and violence should not, and will not be tolerated anywhere including within the Appleton Area School District.

The continuous racial injustices affecting our communities, nation, and world are a constant reminder that not all of us have the same privileges, and we must do our part to create a more welcoming and inclusive environment for all.

We join with the City of Appleton Mayor Woodford and Appleton Police Chief Thomas in our collective commitment to promote dignity and respect for all. Our Asian and Pacific Islander communities have been critical parts of the economic and social development of the Fox Cities businesses, schools, and neighborhoods. Together, we stand for justice, unity, and peace.

We will continue to share relevant resources to our families and staff in the coming months. More importantly, we will continue to share how we will embed diversity, equity, and inclusion into our work and our everyday lives as human beings, educators, and representatives of the district.
