Childcare Options For Appleton Families Announced

The public school district and community partners have teamed up to provide supervised spaces for kids involved in distance learning.

September 17, 2020

We know that many families are not available to monitor their student’s virtual/online learning while at home. In an effort to provide options for families most in need, AASD capitalized on a long standing partnership with the YMCA of the Fox Cities and the Boy & Girls Club of the Fox Valley to provide the Classroom Connections program, safe and supportive spaces in some of our elementary and middle school buildings and community locations where students be supervised/ receive assistance during virtual learning. The staff supporting students in Classroom Connections are not instructors or teachers, but they do provide support to students for accessing online learning through their device during the school day.

If your family is still interested in childcare during the school day through the Classroom Connections program, there are still spots available at the Boy & Girls Club of the Fox Valley’s Appleton location (160 South Badger Avenue). To learn more, please call the Boys & Girls Club at (920) 731-0555. Childcare through Classroom Connection at our school sites is currently at capacity. Families can call their school and request to be added to a wait list.

We have also reached out to our Appleton Community 4K partners and are providing their information below as a resource for families. Childcare center enrollments can change frequently. We encourage you to check back with one of the community partners below if you are interested in their location but they are marked as currently fully enrolled. Some locations may also maintain wait lists.

We also share whether these partners are Wisconsin Shares participants. Wisconsin Shares helps eligible families afford quality childcare, including care for school age children, while the parents - or persons taking the place of parents - work, go to school and work, or engage in job training activity.
