Fox Cities Chamber: Appleton Airport Reports Busiest Month In 56-Year History

APPLETON, Wis.

Appleton International Airport (ATW) saw a record-breaking month in July, surpassing the most monthly passengers in the airport’s 56-year history. This July, over 77,000 travelers passed through the airport, eclipsing the previous record of 75,000 in March of 2019.

“Appleton Airport is back,” says Thomas Nelson, Outagamie County Executive. “Local travelers tell us the convenience of nonstop flights to destinations like Atlanta, Charlotte, Denver and Las Vegas make ATW their preferred departure destination, which is a big reason why we’ve rebounded to beyond 100% of where we were before the pandemic.”

Appleton Airport’s growth is attributed to strong family and vacation travel, supported by increased flights from American Airlines, Allegiant and United Airlines. The airport was also recognized by Boyd Group International as one of the nation’s top 25 growth markets earlier
this year.

Although Appleton Airport’s traveler numbers have returned to its pre-pandemic levels, the airport remains focused on providing its travelers with a safe and healthy travel experience.
