Chairman of Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago to Speak at Cornell Club of Wisconsin Annual Dinner on May 2, 2012

Brookfield, Wis. – William Foote, Chairman of the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago, will be the keynote speaker at the Cornell Club of Wisconsin banquet on Wednesday, May 2, 2012. Foote is the retired CEO of USG Corporation, North America’s leading producer of gypsum wallboard, joint compound and a vast array of related products for the construction and remodeling industries.

Foote, who was the youngest chairman in USG’s 107-year history, will present “Managing Through Crisis,” in which he successfully tackled the company’s legacy asbestos liabilities and led the company through a Chapter 11 restructuring to protect shareholders from lawsuits. In 2006, USG announced an unprecedented agreement that settled all asbestos personal injury claims against the company, preserved shareholder value and repaid creditors in full. In a Wall Street Journal article, Warren Buffet called it, “the most successful management performance in bankruptcy that I’ve ever seen.”

Mark Harrington, Club President and Chad Cape, Event Chair, jointly shared, “We are honored that Bill Foote will be joining us and sharing his personal experience successfully leading USG Corporation. This will be an exciting evening for Cornell Alumni, their guests, and other members of Wisconsin’s business community who are welcome to attend.” The banquet is open to the public.
