Best States To Find A Job: Here's How Wisconsin Ranks
Does Wisconsin have a good job market? The answer ... might not be what you think.

WISCONSIN — Job hunting can be a real challenge — especially in industries with fierce competition, or areas where jobs are scarce. A new study from consumer finance site WalletHub takes a look at the best and worst job markets in the U.S., comparing factors such as employment growth, median annual income and average commute time.
Wisconsin — where the most recent unemployment figure of 2.9 percent was higher than the national rate of 4.1 percent — ranked 16 out of the 50 states. Its job market rank is 8, and the economic environment rank is 27.
What's the best place to find a job? According to the study, that's Washington state. The worst? West Virginia.

On the bright side, the study found that Illinois comes in at No. 4 among states with the highest monthly average starting salary. But Illinois ranked among the worst with the longest time spent commuting (No. 46).

- Louisiana has the highest unemployment rate; Hawaii has the lowest.
- Utah has the highest median annual income, while Hawaii has the lowest.
- Utah also has the best work-life balance, with the shortest time spent working.
