Summer Pilgrim Road And Capitol Drive Detours Coming Up

BROOKFIELD, WI — Motorists traveling in the Brookfield area will have to take note of several detours this summer as work is set to begin on a $1.65 million Pilgrim Road overhaul.

State officials say the Pilgrim Road bridge over Capitol Drive was built in 1965 and is in need of maintenance. An aging bridge deck needs to be replaced, the roadway adjacent to the bridge needs pavement updates, and the weathered steel bridge girders need a fresh coat of paint.

Here's what you'll need to know as you're out-and-about this summer:

Pilgrim Road

The weekend of June 7: Capitol Drive and Pilgrim Road will be fully closed near the bridge for bridge deck removal.

• Northbound Pilgrim Road traffic will be detoured east onto North Ave., north on Lilly Road, and west on Lisbon Road.
• Southbound Pilgrim Road traffic will be detoured west on Lisbon Road, south on Calhoun Road and east on North Ave.

After the initial weekend closure, Pilgrim Road will still be closed to traffic at the bridge, but the ramps will be open.

• Northbound Detour – east on Capitol Drive from ramp, north on Lilly Road and west on Lisbon Road.
• Southbound Detour – west on Capitol Drive from ramp, south on Calhoun Road and east on North Ave.

Capitol Drive

The weekend of June 7: Capitol Drive and Pilgrim Road will be fully closed near the bridge for bridge deck removal.

• Eastbound Detour – exit south on Pilgrim Road, east on Burleigh Street, and north on Lilly Road.
• Westbound Detour – exit north on Pilgrim Road, west on Lisbon Avenue and south on Calhoun Road.
