Milwaukee-based Shemiran Rugs had supplied rugs to nine of the now-bankrupt department store’s furniture galleries in Wisconsin, Illinois and Ohio since 2014, and the company’s owner, Mohammad Farshchi of Milwaukee, had been involved in supplying the rugs since 2008. In late May, after a going-out-of-business sale pricing disagreement, the liquidators now in possession of the bankrupt retailer asked it to file a motion with the bankruptcy court to reject Shemiran’s contract. The liquidators ordered Farshchi to remove his inventory from the nine stores and then immediately brought in replacement rugs to sell in the stores’ liquidation sales.

“We would have preferred to sell our rugs in the stores, but the liquidators’ order left us no choice,” Farshchi said. “The good news is that consumers now have a chance to buy the high-quality rugs once sold at Bon-Ton for a considerably discounted price, with even better deals than what the liquidators are charging for the replacement inventory at the stores’ going-out-of-business sales. Additionally, our rugs come with a fully refundable, three-day home trial plan, and a 30-day exchange plan not available at the liquidation sales.”

Shemiran removed over 1,000 rugs with a retail value of over $1 million from the nine stores. Some were sold at auction in Green Bay in early June, and the rest are stored in the Brookfield warehouse.
