East and Central Again Win Prestigious Award

Elmbrook has earned more ACT Red Quill Awards than any District in Wisconsin.

Brookfield East and Central high schools were again named recipients of the prestigious “ACT Red Quill Legacy Award.” Only five schools in Wisconsin were named Legacy Red Quill Award winners for 2012-13.  Elmbrook has now racked up a total of 9 Red Quill Awards and Legacy Red Quill Awards in the last five years-- that’s the most in Wisconsin.

The Red Quill Award honors educational professionals who recognize the need for diligent analysis of data and a willingness to develop and enhance curriculum and instruction based on the needs of their learning community. The Legacy Red Quill Award recognizes a long-term commitment to those principles that lead to increased student achievement and systemic improvements.

Evidence of increased student achievement is apparent in our district’s historically high ACT scores: this year, East ranked 2nd in the state and Central, 7th.  It was no fluke.  Elmbrook remains committed to providing a world class education to all students.

Elmbrook embraces the Educational Planning and Assessment System -- including the 9th grade Explore, 10th grade PLAN and 11th grade ACT -- to help determine college readiness.  Over 1100 students took the Explore or PLAN tests this year in Elmbrook.  Our goal is to have every student participate in Explore, PLAN and ACT in the future, and we have encouraged legislators to provide funds to help promote that end.

Congratulations to East and Central for again attaining recognition of excellence!
