Geography Bee, Advent Projects and Lots More Keeping Students Busy at SJV
December happenings at SJV. In the classroom and beyond.
Students at St. John Vianney School have a lot going on before Christmas break begins at the end of the school day on Dec. 22nd.
Individual homerooms in grades five through eight have been holding their own geography bee and each will send a participant and an alternate to the SJV Geography Bee on Dec. 13.
Kindergarteners are preparing for the annual Nativity Play. Each kindergartener plays a role — Mary, Joseph, angels, wise men, inn keepers, soldiers, and shepherds — and they perform three times for sold out audiences.

Christmas parties are being planned in all classrooms for Dec. 22. Middle school students, however, have the privilege to have a pizza party and go to Skateland during that time.

All classrooms at SJV are also in the midst of an Advent project. Many classes “adopt” a family in need and provide Christmas gifts and food. The second graders are collecting toys for “Toys for Tots.” The first graders are collecting money to provide a Christmas meal at the Working Boys Center in Quito, Ecuador. It is clearly a busy time at SJV School, but the teachers and administration definitely keep the reason of the season the true focus.
