Brookfield Honoring National Police Week With Flag-Raising Ceremony
The public ceremony will take place Wednesday in honor of National Police Week and National Peace Officers Memorial Day.

In recognition of NationalΒ PoliceΒ Week andΒ National Peace Officers Memorial Day,Β Brookfield will have a 15-minute flag-raising and wreath-laying ceremony with honor guard.Β
The public ceremony will begin at 9 a.m. Wednesday at the Civic Plaza, locatedΒ between Brookfield City Hall, 2000 N. Calhoun Rd., and the Safety Building, 2100 N. Calhoun.Β
May 15 is recognized as National Peace Officers Memorial Day.Β

More than 19,000 names of fallen law enforcement officers are etched into the walls of theΒ National Law Enforcement Officers MemorialΒ β and more are added every year.
The names ofΒ 321 officers killed in the line of dutyΒ β including Wauwatosa slain police officer Jennifer Sebena and Milwaukee County deputy Sergio AlemanΒ β are being added this year to the memorial in Washington, D.C.

A number of Waukesha County Sheriff officers names have been added to the memorial throughout the years:Β Quin Edward O'BrienΒ (Waukesha County Sergeant),Β Michael GesvainΒ (Waukesha CountyΒ Deputy Sheriff),Β William John Phipps Sr.Β (Waukesha CountyΒ Deputy Sheriff) andΒ Charles SnoverΒ (Waukesha CountyΒ Deputy Sheriff).
