Brookfield East Gun Threat Diffused Before School Friday
Police say Brookfield East has been cleared for classes after authorities worked through the night to diffuse a potential threat.

BROOKFIELD, WI — Police say Brookfield East has been cleared for classes after authorities worked through the night to diffuse a potential threat to the school involving a gun.
According to Brookfield police, the department learned of a potential threat Thursday evening, and worked with the school district overnight to identify the potential threat and how to handle it. By the time school started Friday morning, a suspect had already been taken into custody, and the school was deemed safe.
According to a report in Friday's Journal Sentinel, Brookfield East parents were sent an automated phone call at 6:30 a.m. on Friday, Oct. 6:

"I am calling to inform you about a situation that was brought to the attention of Brookfield East High School administration by the City of Brookfield Police Department regarding a complaint that identified a potential threat of violence. A suspect was identified in the complaint and taken into custody. As part of the ongoing investigation, Brookfield East administration and the Brookfield Police secured the building and determined it was safe for school today."
