On April 1, a man was near Reveres Wells Street Tavern, 505 Wells St., Delafield, when he heard bottles clinking. He looked toward the bar and saw Brandl fleeing from an open tavern window, which had bottles of beer sticking out.

The man called police, and Delafield officers arrested Brandl. He told police that he and his two friends had been in the basement of the bar when they got the idea to steal the beer. But Brandl said Maczollek and Trepte left him behind to take the rap for the theft.
