Brookfield Police Searching For Car Theft Suspect

BROOKFIELD, WI — Police in Brookfield are searching for suspects who stole a vehicle after trying unlocked cars in a neighborhood overnight.

On Saturday morning, Sept 9, 2017, City of Brookfield Police responded to two burglary complaints wherein suspects opened unlocked vehicles parked in driveways and then used the garage door openers to gain entry to homes in the neighborhoods south of Lisbon Road between Calhoun Road and Brookfield Road.

The suspects then entered the homes via unlocked interior garage doors to search for car keys. Purses and electronics were ignored by suspects, police reported.

One vehicle was stolen in two attempts as of Saturday. That vehicle is a Gray 2017 Honda CRV WI Auto plate of TWW 477. Suspects are parking near the target residence, checking to see if car doors in the driveways are locked and then looking for garage door openers.

Police are urging residents to please ensure that cars are locked, no keys are present and that your interior garage doors are locked. This has been occurring throughout hours of darkness until as late as 5:30 in the morning.
