Brookfield Woman's Tantrum over Crack Cocaine Money Leads to Charges
The woman started damaging her house when her boyfriend wouldn't give her drug money; later she had her drug dealer call her boyfriend to ask him to pay for her drugs, prosecutors allege.
A Brookfield woman threw a tantrum when her boyfriend wouldn’t give her money to buy crack cocaine, then had her drug dealer call the man asking to help her pay for her drugs, a criminal complaint alleges.
Morgan L. Umphyres, 29, was charged in Waukesha County Circuit Court Monday with one misdemeanor count of disorderly conduct domestic abuse. If convicted, she faces up to 90 days in jail and $1,000 in fines.

On Sunday, Umphyres’ boyfriend decided to take her daughter swimming and took $20 out of the bank to pay for the outing. After getting to a pool, the girl decided she didn’t want to be there, so he took her back to their home in the 400 block of North Park Boulevard.
When they returned Umphyres asked the man if she could have the $20 so she could go buy some crack. She appeared to be coming off of a crack high and wasn’t dealing with her daughter’s stress, so he refused to give her the money.

Umphyres got upset and walked around the house looking for things to break. She threw her cell phone against a bedroom wall, chipping the paint on the wall, and followed the man out to the garage where she tipped over a power washer and dented a gas can.
He told police he decided to kick Umphyres in the thigh to calm her down, but she then sat on the floor of a breezeway and began to hit the ground with a hammer. He tried to grab the hammer from her, but she swung it at him twice. He decided to give her the car keys, but removed the garage door opener and GPS before she left.
Umphyres then drove to her crack dealer’s house located near North 25th Street and Chambers Street in Milwaukee. The dealer called the man, asking if he could help her pay for her crack, but he refused and told the dealer to not sell to her.
The boyfriend then contacted Brookfield police, who called Umphyres while she was still at the dealer’s house and convinced her to come to the police station.
Umphyres denied being a crack user and claimed her boyfriend had attacked her. She was freed on a $500 signature bond while awaiting trial.
