Butler 4th of July Parade & Fireworks

The Village of Butler will celebrate Independence Day all weekend long, from July 4th through the 7th. Not only is the small town celebrating America's independence – these events are part of a year–long celebration of Butler's Centennial, as the village was incorporated in 1913. All events are free.

On Thursday, July 4th, Butler will hold their Independence Day Parade beginning at 2 p.m., traveling north on 127th Street. The Greg Joseph Band (classic rock, blues, country) will perform at Frontier Park from 6 - 9 p.m., with fireworks beginning at dusk.

At Frontier Park on Friday, July 5th, Donkey Baseball will take place at 6 p.m. The Revomatics (instrumental hot rod/surf music) will perform before and after the game, from 5 - 6 p.m. and 7 - 9 p.m. Concessions and food will be available and lawn chairs are recommended.

Saturday, July 6th is a full day with Pancake & Petunias including a pancake breakfast from 8 a.m. - noon at St. Agnes Catholic Parish, 12801 W. Fairmount Ave. Self-guided Walking Tours of gardens and historical buildings will take place from 9 a.m. – noon, with maps available at the St. Agnes breakfast.

On Saturday afternoon, a Butler Class Reunion will recognize graduates of Butler Grade School, St. Agnes Catholic School and Immanuel Lutheran School (originally located in Butler). Registration will take place from 4:30 - 6 p.m. and the wearing of red is suggested for graduates of these schools. On Saturday evening, the Centennial Street Dance will start at 5 p.m. on Hampton between 124th and 125th Streets. Jeff Pulvermacher will perform at 5:30 p.m. and Bobby Way and the Fabulous Wayouts (variety) will perform from 7 - 11 p.m. Beer, soda and food will be available.

Hogs on Hampton will round out the weekend on Sunday, July 7th with a motorcycle show from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. Maple Road (blues/rock) will perform from noon - 4 p.m. Beer, soda and food will be available.

Butler's Centennial Committee has organized many events throughout 2012 and 2013, marking the beginning of Butler as a village in Waukesha County, incorporated as New Butler in May of 1913. New Butler became the home village of many rail yard workers for the massive rail marshalling yard in Milwaukee County, just east of 124th Street at Hampton Avenue. In 1930, the "New" part of its name was dropped. In June of 2012, Butler was awarded a membership in Union Pacific's Train Town USA Registry as part of the railroad's year-long 150th anniversary celebration. More details are available at
