Annalee Kruger, owner of Care Right Inc., brings more than 20 years experience working with seniors and their families to make proactive, well-researched decisions about the care of aging loved ones. Her work often begins when a family has concerns about weight loss or memory impairment. However, she joins families wherever they are on their journey.

“Seniors can take quite a while to come to terms with their changing life situation, so it’s key for them to start considering where they might want to live if they can’t reside in their own home,” Kruger said. “Most places have a lengthy waiting list and require a substantial entrance fee. The time is now to have these conversations and start planning.”

Care Right Inc. follows a steady, deliberate process to help families decide their path.

A free 30-minute phone consultation is the first step, to learn about the key issues and concerns families have with their older loved ones. Kruger conducts a thorough assessment of the senior including mental and emotional well-being, safety at home, and day-to-day living challenges. Finally, she coordinates a plan using input from the senior and their family.

Often seniors want to stay in their own home as long as possible. The Care Right Inc. network has a multitude of related services including in-home care companies, emergency communication devices, and products to make homes safer and more accommodating.

If an older adult needs to move, Kruger explains and educates about the different levels of care available (independent living, assisted living, group home, memory care, rehab centers, long-term care centers). She will arrange tours to help families feel comfortable with the facility they select. Care Right Inc. is not paid any commissions or fees by these facilities.

Care Right Inc. involves all key partners in helping families make these important decisions: financial planners, attorneys, accountants and others. If needed, a trusted network of professionals can be tapped for needed expertise.

Caregiving is another challenge that many families face. Caregivers frequently wind up facing their own health challenges. Kruger works with families to balance caregiver roles, which often start small and mushroom into much larger, overwhelming commitments.

Kruger uses her knowledge of health and housing resources to find the best answers for each family. Her background includes two decades as a social worker and director at senior housing and long-term care providers in Iowa and Milwaukee.

“I started Care Right Inc. because, with 20 years of long-term care experience, I saw far too often the emotional tailspin that families went through when faced with sudden life-changing decisions involving an older loved one,” Kruger said. “It’s hard to make good decisions when emotions are high and time is limited. A better approach is to have the difficult conversations ahead of time, and have a plan in place when a medical emergency occurs.”
