Chicago Bliss Looking to Freeze the Green Bay Chill
The Chicago Bliss head to Milwaukee to play the Green Bay Chill.
The Chicago-Green Bay football rivalry is legendary. Another chapter will be added this Saturday when the Chicago Bliss will travel north of the Illinois border to take on the Green Bay Chill. The 2-0-1 Bliss are big favorites against the 0-2-1 Chill and Chicago fans should leave US Cellular Arena happy!
The Bliss are coming off of a solid 27-18 win in Las Vegas against the Sin. Once again, the Bliss dominated on the ground. Lead by ChrisDell Harris (80 yards, 10 attempts, 1 touchdown), the Bliss outrushed the Sin 116 to 24. Also contributing on the ground were Alli Alberts (12 yards, 3 attempts, 1 TD), Heather Furr (11 yards, 2 attempts), Jess Price (9 yards, 1 attempt) and Deena Fagiano (1 TD).Furr was a solid 3-4 passing for 52 yards. Harris caught 2 passes for 24 yards, while Alberts caught 1 pass for 28 yards. It wasn't a huge aerial attack, but it was effective and controlled.
Green Bay's #3 ranked defense gives up only 140.5 yards per game, but they will have a tough time handling all of the weapons the Bliss have. The Bliss and their 139 yards per game on the ground will certainly test the Chill defense.
On defense, gave up 116 yards through the air, a bit more than Coach Keith Hac would have liked. It wasn't a dominating defensive effort, but the Bliss held the Chill to 2 scores. Dominique Collins had 7 tackles, Kim Perez had 2 and 2.5 sacks, Furr had 2 and Yahshi Rice had 4.
Rookie Bridget McDonnell also saw her first action of the season. McDonnell performed well on special teams and a couple goal line situations.
The #9 ranked Chill offense might be just what the Bliss defense needs to get back on track. The #6 ranked Bliss defense has been doing the job, but not dominating the way Coach Hac expects.
I talked to Coach Hac at the recent practice and got his thoughts on the game. Hac spoke with his usual candor. He wasn't ecstatic about the win, but he found plenty of positive aspects, too.
Hac went on to discuss the upcoming Green Bay game and again he pulled no punches. The only thing preventing this game from being a squash match is how much playing time Hac gives to his rookies.Back in training camp, Hac and the team all called for an undefeated season. They will go 3-0-1 after the win on Saturday, thus fulfilling those predictions.
The game will start at 8 p.m. at the US Cellular Arena in Milwaukee. Sorry Wisconsin. This one will belong to Chicago.
