Clerical Error Leads to Arrest of Brookfield Man on Suspicion of Stolen License Plates
Although the plates should have been cleared from the crime database, the man ended up getting drug and alcohol citations.

WHITEFISH BAY -- A 29 year old Brookfield man was issued drug and alcohol citations after he was arrested for having stolen license plates on his vehicle.
It was only after the arrest that the arresting officer learned that the stolen plates listed in the crime database should have been cleared from the system before the arrest took place.
According to the Whitefish Bay police reports, an officer observed a silver Ford Focus driving on the 4800 block of N. Santa Monica Blvd. just after 1 a.m. on Aug. 30. A DOT check by the officer revealed the license plates were reported stolen out of Milwaukee.

A high-risk traffic stop was conducted on I-42 eastbound at E. Locust Street and the operator from Brookfield was taken into custody without incident.
A follow-up investigation by the officer revealed that the stolen plates should have been cleared from the crime database.

The man was cited for Possession of a Controlled Substance, Possession of Drug paraphernalia and open intoxicant in a moving vehicle.
