Ten minutes after the phone call, a man walked up to the house and said his mother had just dropped him off to check out the iPhone.  But the seller became suspicious when the potential buyer was holding the phone and looking around.

The owner grabbed the phone back and asked how the man planned to pay for it. The man said his mother had the money and ran out of sight, with no vehicle in view, the report said.
