Driver Identified In Deadly Brookfield Police Pursuit, Crash
Police have identified the person who died late Sunday evening after a police pursuit turned deadly.

BROOKFIELD, WI — Police have identified the person who died late Sunday evening after a police pursuit turned deadly.
Officials say 24-year-old Stephan Ramsey of Milwaukee was the deceased. Prior to the fateful incident Sunday night, Ramsey had been convicted of possession of marijuana and possession of a firearm as a convicted felon in May 2014. In 2010, he had been charged with two counts of robbery with use of force, and convicted on one of the two charges.
On Sunday evening, Sep. 24 at 11:45 p.m., a Waukesha County Sheriff’s Deputy conducted a traffic stop on a Black Hyundai for a traffic violation related to excessive speed at Barker and Bluemound Roads in the Town of Brookfield.

According to official reports, the deputy made initial contact with Ramsey and detected the odor of marijuana.
Authorities say that when Ramsey was questioned about this, he fled eastbound on Bluemound Road at a high rate of speed.

Two Waukesha County Sheriff’s Deputies pursued the vehicle, but suspect vehicle lost control and crashed on Bluemound Road just west of Calhoun Road, according to offical reports.
Deputies attempted life saving measures however, Ramsey succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead on scene. Both the City of Brookfield Police and Fire Departments arrived on the scene to assist.
The two deputies involved were both placed on paid administrative leave, according to standard procedure.
The City of Brookfield Police Department is investigating the incident.
