Drop of Blood on Broken Glass Leads Police to Burglar
Police were able to identify an alleged burglar of a Brookfield apartment through DNA from drop of blood on a shard of glass.

A drop of blood on a shard of glass found at an apartment break-in lead Brookfield police the burglar, charges allege.
Contina Edwards, 38, of Milwaukee, was charged in Waukesha County Circuit Court Friday with one count of burglary for breaking into an apartment on Dec. 16 in the 14100 block of West Capitol Drive. If convicted, she faces up to 12 ½ years in prison and $25,000 in fines.

The man who lives in the apartment came home Dec. 16 to find his door ajar and a kitchen window broken out. After further inspecting the dwelling, he discovered a Xbox video game console, wireless router, cable modem, PlayStation 3 controller and plasma screen television were missing.
Officers discovered a spot of blood on one of the pieces of broken glass from the window, the complaint states, and a DNA test confirmed it to be Edward’s blood. According to online Wisconsin Circuit Court records, an arrest warrant has been filed for Edward.
