East Grad Earns Academic All-Big Ten Honors

Brookley Rogers earned 4.0 GPA and starts for women's soccer team at Purdue.

Brookley Rogers of Brookfield, a senior at Purdue, has been honored with both Academic All-Big Ten and Big Ten Distinguished Scholar awards for the second consecutive year.

The Academic All-Big Ten threshold is a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher for their academic career. Distinguished Scholar Award recipients must be in their second academic year at the institution and have a minimum GPA of 3.7 for the previous academic year. Of Purdue’s 43 recipients, Rogers was one of seven posting a perfect 4.0 GPA this year.

In April, Rogers — a pre-med major — was also inducted into the Mortar Board Society, a premier national honor society recognizing college seniors for superior achievement in scholarship, leadership and service.  Out of the 200 nominations submitted, Rogers was one of 20 members invited to join this esteemed society and represent her senior class.

Rogers has also excelled on the soccer field gaining a starting position on the Boilermaker defense during her sophomore year.  She started all 20 games during her junior season, only one of seven players to do so.  Entering her senior season, she will have started in 34 consecutive games and has led the team in minutes played after going the distance in every game. 

A native of Brookfield, Rogers is a former soccer standout at Brookfield East High School.  She has also has found time to travel to Honduras recently on a medical mission, and hopes to continue her education in medical school upon graduation from Purdue next May.
