WAUKESHA COUNTY, WI β€” Waukesha County Executive Paul Farrow says he's not throwing his hat into the ring to run for Wisconsin's Fifth District Congressional seat, which will be open after longtime Rep. Jim Sensenbrenner announced he would not seek re-election.

β€œAfter much consideration, and following many discussions with my family, friends, and supporters, I have decided not to run for the 5th Congressional district seat being vacated by Congressman Jim Sensenbrenner," Farrow said in a statement to Patch. "I feel honored, and am humbled by the number of people who have reached out to me to consider entering the race, but ultimately, I cannot serve in Washington, DC when the issues I am most passionate about hit much closer to home."

Matt Walker, the 25-year-old son of former Gov. Scott Walker said he might be interested in running for the seat. Leah Vukmir and Senate Majority Leader Scott Fitzgerald were also cited as potential candidates.
