High-End Fashion Boutique Coming to Brookfield in May

This will be the first Wisconsin store for Akira

BROOKFIELD — Akira, a Chicago-based women's fashion boutique, is opening its first Wisconsin store at Brookfield Square Mall in May.

According to a report published by the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, Akira specializes in trendy apparel and stresses customer service. It will be located in space near the Sears end of the mall.

Eric Hsueh, who is a founder and co-owns Akira with Erikka Wang and Sarah Hughes, described the store's niche to the Journal Sentinel in this way: "Hip and trendy clothing that is hopefully spot-on. Something different, something fresh and something fashion forward — but not too far out there to where it doesn't relate or resonate with our customers."

Here is a little bit more about AKIRA from their company website:

Each store's stylists are well-versed in the latest, largest national and international trends. Sexy dresses, denim, jewelry, & handbags from over 200 designer brands and smaller fashion houses line the walls at AKIRA, ensuring that even the most discerning customer won't leave the store empty-handed. Standout labels such as Jeffrey Campbell shoes, For Love and Lemons, Mink Pink, Senso shoes, OCC Lip Tar, One Teaspoon, Jessica Simpson shoes, Melissa footwear, and BCBG are guaranteed crowd-pleasers.

"Aside from the product, finding those people is the most important thing. I think it's our competitive advantage. We look for a certain type of person, and if we find that type of person, then hopefully we treat them very, very, very well and it's a symbiotic relationship," Hsueh said.
