John Kastner of R.A. Smith National Receives Young Engineer of the Year Award

John Kastner, P.E., group manager with R.A. Smith National — a multi-disciplined civil engineering and surveying firm — in Brookfield, Wis., has received the 2014 Young Engineer of the Year Award by the Milwaukee Metro Chapter of the Wisconsin Society of Professional Engineers (WSPE). An awards dinner and ceremony was held on February 18.
The WSPE Young Engineer of the Year Award is presented annually to an outstanding contributor to the engineering profession. Individuals who are named to receive this award are recognized by their peers for their outstanding performance in engineering and their ability and willingness to serve the engineering profession as leaders to the future. Kastner is now eligible for the WSPE State award, which will be awarded during the WSPE Discovery Conference on May 27 and 28, 2015.
Kastner has more than 12 years of experience in various engineering construction and design roles for the Wisconsin Department of Transportation, local governments and private developers. He holds a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, and is an MBA candidate at Marquette University.
