UPDATED: Lancers Golfers Nab Eighth-Place Finish at State
East's Sierah Gurske improves on Day 2; Homestead extends first-day lead for title.

Brookfield Central slipped to a 366 total on the final day of the WIAA Division 1 girls golf state championships at University Ridge in Verona, placing eighth overall with a two-day total of 714.
The Lancers shot 348 on the opening day and were fifth after Monday's play. Homestead extended its first-day lead and won the tournament by 25 shots with a total of 657.
Amanda Reisner and Grace Dunn shared the day's low round for the Lancers, each with an 86. Other scores were by Christine Tang (86), Anne Parker (98) and Katie Bews (108). Only the top four scores count to the team total.

Tang and Dunn shot 81 and 82, respectively, to lead the Lancers on the first day. Other scores were from Reisner (87), Parker (98) and Bews (117). Dunn tied for 23rd overall in the individual standings.
Brookfield East's Sierah Gurske, in her third trip to the state tournament, rallied after an opening-day 91 and carded an 82 to finish 33rd overall. She started on No. 10 on Tuesday and after a 7-over 43 that included double bogeys on 16 and 18, she rallied with a 3-over final nine, featuring a birdie on the par-5 second hole.

Emily Joers of Waukesha North/South/West won the individual title after her second consecutive 73.
Central finished ninth last year with a 734 total.
