Lancers Golfers Shine at University Ridge
Freshman is second among individuals and team also takes second at site of state championships.
Debut performances at University Ridge Golf Course are rarely a success.
But for Brookfield Central’s Grace Dunn, the Wisconsin state tournament track felt right at home. The Lancers freshman shot an 8-over par round of 80, finishing one shot behind medalist Caroline Lake of Madison Edgewood at the SVA Invitational in Madison on Wednesday.
“(U-Ridge) is just a fun course overall,” Dunn said. “I’m glad we were invited to come here and got a chance to play it.”

Dunn especially enjoyed the more spacious front side, picking up back-to-back birdies on Nos. 5 and 6 on her way to opening nine score of 37. Dunn’s round propelled Brookfield Central to a team total of 364 and a second place finish overall, 39 shots behind champion Madison Edgewood.
Juniors Christine Tang (90) and Amanda Riesner (101) and senior Anne Parker (93) also counted scores for the Lancers.

“I think we have a good team, but we still have a lot to learn,” Brookfield Central coach Brian Scrobel said. “We have to play a lot smarter and limit our mental mistakes.”
However, the runner-up result was a satisfying one for Scrobel, whose team finished ninth at the state tournament a season ago.
“We always try to take the girls beforehand to courses they will play later on in competition,” Scrobel said. “Hopefully we can make it back here in October.”
