According to a Journal Sentinel report, a Waukesha dispatcher contacted officers after receiving a suspicious phone call from a man who told officials that he was a City of Brookfield Police officer. When the dispatcher checked the City and Town of Brookfield police departments for the officer's identification, they found none. The dispatcher suspected the man was lying about his identity.
The criminal complaint stated that an officer made contact with Long on the phone about his real identity. When Long couldn't come up with a credible story, he eventually admitted that he falsely identified himself as an officer. He turned himself over on Oct. 30 and now faces a misdemeanor criminal charge.
