Nancy Major Joins Stillwaters Cancer Support Services As New Executive Director

Former Safe Babies Healthy Families leader takes reins of organization focused on healing of mind, body and spirit

Waukesha, Wis. – Nancy Major, a prominent non-profit executive with an extensive background in leadership, management and business operations, has joined Stillwaters Cancer Support Center as its new executive director.

Major is responsible for the operational and strategic efforts of Stillwaters, a non-profit organization that provides professional, compassionate counseling and support services to individuals affected by cancer and those who love them. Its community-based services are offered through hospitals and clinics at health systems throughout southeastern Wisconsin, and at the Stillwaters center, 2607 N. Grandview Blvd., Suite 108.

Major served as President and CEO of Waukesha-based Safe Babies Healthy Families for eight years, expanding the organization’s service reach and greatly raising its public profile. She has broad experience in executive leadership, operational restructuring, strategic planning, program development, and sales and marketing, among many other qualifications.

Major’s professional background includes work in both the corporate and non-profit sectors, including several in health care. She has managed companies of varying sizes, owned and sold businesses, and led large regional chapters affiliated with United Cerebral Palsy and Special Olympics. She holds B.A. and master’s degrees from Columbia State University.

We’re confident that her passion, energy and leadership will help Stillwaters meet the growing needs of the community.”

“Few situations are more traumatic than a diagnosis of cancer or having a loved one affected by it,” Major said. “For many of us, the emotional toll can be devastating and longer-lasting than the medical treatment. I’m deeply humbled to be called to serve the critical and life-changing mission of Stillwaters. It’s a tremendous privilege to once again work with such a dedicated and passionate team of staff and board directors.”

Stillwaters is a non-profit organization that exists to serve anyone affected by cancer and those who love them. Provided free of charge, services are exclusively dedicated to cancer-specific, professional counseling & emotional support to compliment medical care received.
