North Ave. To Be Widened To 4 Lanes, Public Hearing Planned

The current plan is to widen North Ave. to four lanes with sidewalk and on-street bike lanes. Details here:

WAUKESHA COUNTY, WI -- Citing traffic congestion, Waukesha County officials are planning on widening and upgrading a stretch of North Ave. in Brookfield from Calhoun Road to 124th St. The current plan is to widen North Avenue to four lanes with sidewalk and on-street bike lanes. Final state and federal approval of that plan will occur in 2019.

Officials say reconstructing this segment of North Avenue has been in the county’s capital program for several years and that Waukesha County, the Wisconsin DOT and the Federal Highway Administration have committed funds to build the project.

The Waukesha County Department of Public Works will host a public hearing for the North Avenue reconstruction study on Wednesday, Jan.9, at the Brookfield Central High School cafeteria. The open-house format hearing will go from 4:30 p.m. to 6 p.m. The public comment period will begin at 6 p.m.
