BROOKFIELD, WI — The former Brennan's grocery store building on Blue Mound Road in Brookfield is getting new life.

According to a Milwaukee Business Journal Report, Brookfield real estate firm MLG Capital bought the former grocery store site at 19000 W. Blue Mound Road, for $3 million and has plans to renovate it into a new headquarters.

Brennan's closed its Brookfield, Oconomowoc, Monroe and Madison stores on Sep. 30, ending the company's 75-year run that began with a roadside fruit stand in Monroe, Wis.

According to a Journal Sentinel Report from earlier this year, the Brookfield location faced an ultra-competitive marketplace that doomed the company. The newspaper cited that Brennan's was within four miles of a Metro Market, an Aldi, a Trader Joe's Market and a new Sendik's.
