Open House for Walmart on Brookfield/New Berlin Border

An informational open house has been scheduled after residents expressed concerns over the proposed development, which has zoning problems.

An informational open house for a proposed Walmart Supercenter in New Berlin on the border with Brookfield will be held after residents expressed disapprovalΒ of the big-box store earlier this month.

TheΒ open house will featureΒ site plans and renderings for the proposed developmentΒ located at 15205 and 15375 W. Greenfield Ave. from 6 to 8 p.m. Jan. 23 at Ronald Reagan Elementary School, 4225 S. Calhoun Rd.

ThereΒ will be an open house format with no formal presentation. The developer and its representatives β€” Jim Frayn withΒ Manhard Consulting Ltd., and Deborah Tomczyk withΒ Reinhart Boerner Van Deuren s.c.Β β€” will be available to answer questions.Β

The location for the proposed WalmartΒ needs a rezoning and also needs a change in the city's land use plan, reported New Berlin Now. The zoning area is forΒ single-family homes, with the exception ofΒ Charcoal Grill.

Residents expressed concerns such as heavy traffic, potential flooding problems, parking issues, crime and 24-hour lighting near residences, according to a story in New Berlin Now.Β

The New Berlin Plan Commission will vote on whether to recommend the changes to the zoning area on Feb. 4.
