Sheriff: Suspect Identified, Details Emerge in Sussex Shooting
Waukesha County Sheriff says man gave shooter a ride for a drug transaction, who fired 4-5 shots at victim.
SUSSEX — The 19-year-old subject involved in the shooting in Sussex has been identified as Niikwame D. Bell. It has been reported that the 16-year-old Sussex resident was shot during a suspected drug transaction, according to a Waukesha County Sheriff's Department release.
Bell was detained by the Wauwatosa Police Department on Saturday May 14 after he reported being the victim of a carjacking in which his vehicle was stolen. The Wauwatosa Police Department transported Bell to the Waukesha County Sheriff’s Department where he was turned over to detectives to be interviewed regarding his vehicle being involved in this incident, the Sheriff's department said.
According to the release, Bell spoke with detectives and later admitted that his vehicle had not been stolen. Bell admitted that he gave the 22-year-old Milwaukee man a ride in his vehicle to Sussex for the purpose of a drug transaction.

A witness stated that the passenger exited the front passenger side of the vehicle and fired four to five shots from a handgun, Sheriff's officials said.
This incident continues to be under investigation by the Waukesha County Sheriff’s Department. More information will be released as it becomes available.

UPDATE: Authorities have arrested two suspects in the Saturday shooting that left a 16-year-old Sussex boy in critical condition.
From the Waukesha County Sheriff:
On Monday at approximately 1:00 am, the Waukesha County Sheriff’s Department, with the assistance of the Wisconsin Department of Justice and the Milwaukee Police Department were able to locate and apprehend a second subject believed to be involved in the shooting in Sussex. We currently have a 19-year-old male and a 22-year-old male, both subjects from Milwaukee, in custody for the shooting at this time. As of 10:30 am this morning, the 16-year-old male remains in critical condition.
This is an isolated incident and the community is not in any danger. This incident remains under investigation by the Waukesha County Sheriff’s Department.
SATURDAY: Police are looking for the suspects responsible for shooting a 16-year-old boy from Sussex, who suffered serious injury from a gunshot wound Saturday afternoon.
Authorities responded to the area of Bugline Trail and Pick 'n Save in the Village of Sussex for a report of shots fired at about 3:30 p.m. Saturday.
When they arrived, they located the boy laying in the grass on the north side of the trail with a gunshot wound, according to a release from the Waukesha County Sheriff's Department.
The scene was secured and EMS started life-saving measures and the victim was transported by Sussex Fire to Waukesha Memorial Hospital and later to Children's Hospital in Milwaukee.
Authorities believe this is an isolated incident and say there is no reason the community is in danger at this time, the release said.

The Waukesha County Sheriff’s Department says a man is suffering from serious injuries following a shooting.
According to a report by FOX 6 on Saturday afternoon, the shooting took place near the Bugline Trail located near Highway 164 and Silver Spring Drive in Sussex.

Police were called to the Bugline Trail on a report of shots fire on Saturday afternoon. A man with serious injuries had been located and was transported to Waukesha Memorial Hospital.
