Traffic at The Corners a Concern for Some; Years of Planning for Officials

With the grand-opening of the Corners of Brookfield, came the traffic. Here is what officials are saying about it:

BROOKFIELD, WI — With the grand-opening of the Corners of Brookfield, came the traffic.

And while some residents voiced their concerns over the increase of traffic volume along the Bluemound Road corridor, and nearby area, a North Shore Now report gave local officials the chance to respond to their concerns.

According to the report, the April 8 grand opening of The Corners saw 10,000 visitors by 6 p.m.

Yet, despite the high traffic volume, officials said traffic studies and planning as early as 2011 helped pave the way for the economic and traffic influx that The Corners will likely bring with regularity.

“There’s been development all up and down that corridor. It’s not just that one spot,” DOT Southeast Region Communications Manager Michael Pyritz said in the North Shore Now Report. “It was clearly designed to handle high volumes of traffic.”
