Trying to Beat a Red Light in front of State Patrol Car Leads to Pot Arrest

A Waukesha man was caught with marijuana in his car after running a red light in the Town of Brookfield, a criminal complaint alleges.

Anthony J. Scaffidi, 19, was charged in Waukesha County Circuit Court Friday with one felony count of possession of THC, the active ingredient in marijuana. If convicted, he faces up to 3 ½ years in prison and $10,000 in fines.

According to the criminal complaint:

On Thursday, a Wisconsin State Trooper was travelling behind Scaffidi as Scaffidi exited I-94 at Barker Road, sped up to beat a yellow light but drove through the intersection while the light was red. When the trooper approached the car, Scaffidi was nervous and the car smelled of marijuana.

The trooper searched the car and found three bags of marijuana with about 30 grams of the drug in each bag.

A 19-year-old Waukesha man is facing felony charges after he was caught with marijuana in his car while running a red light in Town of Brookfield last week.

The trooper then searched the car and found three bags of marijuana with about 30 grams of the drug in each bag.

Scaffidi was free on a $2,000 surety bond while awaiting trial.
