Vipond To Challenge Sensenbrenner In GOP Congressional Primary

BROOKFIELD, WI β This yearβs Fifth District congressional race features a new Republican candidate, Jennifer Hoppe Vipond. Vipond is challenging Representative Jim Sensenbrenner, who has held the office since 1979.
βWhile I respect and share his fiscal conservatism, based on my first-hand experience as a doctor, I know that there are important issues facing our district that are not being addressed. For the sake of this community where I was born and raised, where I raised my family and where I practice medicine, I believe I can represent this community and help tackle those issues,β she told Patch.
The long-time pediatrician says she hopes to bring a prescription for change in her run, with a focus on healthcare policy, the opioid epidemic, and workforce development.

The Republican Primary vote takes place on Tuesday, Aug. 14, 2018. Vipondβs run for Congress in Wisconsinβs fifth district marks the first time in history that a woman has run for this seat in office.
