Vipond to Hold 'Meet the Candidate' Events In Area

This year's Fifth District congressional race features a new Republican candidate, Jennifer Hoppe Vipond.

BROOKFIELD, WI – This year’s Fifth District congressional race features a new Republican candidate, Jennifer Hoppe Vipond.

The Republican Primary vote takes place on Tuesday, Aug. 14, 2018. Vipond’s run for Congress in Wisconsin’s fifth district marks the first time in history that a woman has run for this seat in office. It is also the first time since 2008 that there has been a Republican primary for this position.

Vipond is challenging Representative Jim Sensenbrenner, who has held the office since 1979. β€œWhile I respect and share his fiscal conservatism, based on my first-hand experience as a doctor, I know that there are important issues facing our district that are not being addressed," she told Patch in a prepared statement. "For the sake of this community where I was born and raised, where I raised my family and where I practice medicine, I believe I can represent this community and help tackle those issues.”
