Wisconsin Property Taxes Still Among Highest In U.S.: Report
Wisconsin residents pay some of the highest property taxes in the country. See just how much.

WISCONSIN β Despite recent gains by homeowners after Gov. Scott Walker zeroed out the state portion of the property tax bill, Wisconsin residents pay some of the highest property taxes in the country, according to a new analysis from ATTOM Data. The 2017 property tax analysis found that Wisconsin had the tenth- highest property tax rate β 1.67 percent β in the country.
Despite the high tax rates, the analysis found that the average tax amount in Wisconsin actually remained exactly the same in 2017 when compared to 2016. The average annual property tax in Wisconsin for 2017 was $3,199 in 2017 and in 2016 that figure was $3,196.
None of Wisconsin's 72 counties has tax bills that average $10,000. The new tax bill signed into law by President Trump caps the state and local tax deduction, limiting the deduction residents can claim on their 2018 tax returns to $10,000. Dane County had an average property tax amount of $5,701, according to the analysis.
