Wisconsin SnapChat Hacker Targeted At Least 300 Girls: Police
Authorities believe that Barton Scott, 34, of New Richmond, is responsible for blackmailing up to 300 teenage girls using SnapChat.

ST CROIX COUNTY, WI — A Wisconsin man previously convicted of exposing himself to a child in 2014 is now the subject of a wide-ranging police investigation. Authorities believe that Barton Scott, 34, of New Richmond, is responsible for blackmailing up to 300 teenage girls using the popular social media app SnapChat.
According to a report out of the News-Times, in one case, Scott managed to hack into a teenage girl's Snapchat account. He found private nude photos on the account, and then threatened the girl by stating he would post the photos publicly if she did not send him more explicit materials.
According to documents obtained by the News-Times, court records indicated that he told one girl, “You are f—ed, I wasn’t gonna do sh—, but f— you now I am.”

According to a report from the Pierce County Herald in Ellsworth, Wis., Scott was taken into custody on Aug. 8 after numerous complaints surfaced from college-aged women stating that their social media accounts had been taken over.
A subsequent search warrant executed by authorities in St. Croix County revealed "files depicting young women and girls in sexual scenarios as well as several chat logs," the Herald reports.

The FBI is currently working with area authorities to determine the scope of Scott's alleged nefarious efforts.
