Woman, 53, Died When Her Car Struck Horse: Report
Deputies reported seeing a brown horse lying dead in the middle of Highway T when they arrived.

ST. CROIX COUNTY, WI -- Authorities in St. Croix County say a 53-year-old Wisconsin woman is dead after the vehicle she was driving collided with a horse.
At just before 7 a.m. on Friday, Oct. 12, deputies from the St. Croix County Sheriff's office responded to a one-vehicle crash on Highway T just south of Highway Z in Pleasant Valley.
When deputies arrived, they reported seeing that the driver of a 2009 Chevrolet Impala struck a horse on the road. Deputies reported seeing a brown horse lying dead in the middle of Highway T when they arrived.

Authorities said that the driver of the Impala, 53-year-old Diane G. Johnson of Hammond, was driving on the road when she struck the horse.
First responders rendered critical aid to Johnson, however she was pronounced dead by the St. Croix County Medical Examiner that morning.

Authorities say she was wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash. It's the ninth traffic death in St. Croix County in 2018, authorities said.
