53-Year-Old Racine County Woman Dies in Auto Accident

RACINE COUNTY -- A 53-year-old Town of Yorkville woman has died after she was reportedly struck by a moving vehicle Thursday night.

According to the Racine County Sheriff's office, the accident took place on Highway 20 and 53rd Dr. in the town of Yorkville just before 6 p.m. Thursday.

The first Sheriff squad on scene confirmed the accident involved a pedestrian and life saving measures were started. Union Grove/Yorkville Fire and Rescue arrived on scene and took over the lifesaving measures. Unfortunately, the pedestrian hit succumbed to her injuries at the scene. The pedestrian was found to be a 53-year- old female who lived at a residence nearby the accident scene.

The driver and occupants of the vehicle involved stayed that the scene and are cooperating with the accident investigation, according to Sheriff's officials.

The Wisconsin State Patrol Accident Reconstruction team was called to the scene to assist in the accident investigation. STH 20 was closed to traffic for approximately 3 hours while the accident was investigated.
