Read by students and community leaders, “The People Speak” takes a trip through American history and reinvents the “rebel” rousing speeches and stories that shaped our nation. “Young and old will be inspired to hear the words of our greatest leaders through the combined voice of our community’s youth” said Kelly Gallaher coordinator of the presentation. “This performance will focus on the struggle for equality, the words of Dr. King and the building of his dream.”
The King Day Celebration is a day-long program of student community service events, social justice workshops and a free community banquet. The doors for the evening program open at 5:30 pm. The program also includes African Dancers and keynote speaker and community organizer, Ed McDonald.
